"KNITTING MIDGET SOUGHT FOR BALLET"

From the Dallas Morning News, 2-9-1940:

A well-formed male midget, not more than three feet tall, is being sought by Mrs. John F. Lyons, local manager for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, for an appearance in Bacchanale here on the night of Feb. 20. The midget must also be able to knit. In this surrealist ballet, one of the four numbers on the program for the performance, Salvador Dali has included as one of the pantomime characters, a midget who sits on the stage and plies a pair of needles, two feet long. Small children will not be considered for the part.
